Personnel

Many members of the Citizens Patrol (CP) are selected from graduates of the 14-week long Citizens Academy. They also receive additional training in the following areas:

  • Use of police radio and mobile data computer 
  • Recognizing suspicious activity; park patrols 
  • Report writing
  • Emergency vehicle operations 
  • Directing traffic
  • First aid/CPR/AED
  • Fire suppression
  • Crime scene preservation
  • Car unlocks, transports
  • Bike patrol
  • Disabled parking violations
  • Lynnwood geography
  • Defensive Tactics
  • Safety around downed power line

Members range in age from 26 to 68 and most work full-time in a variety of jobs such as computer programmer, engineer, public relations, teacher,  medical field, homemaker, apartment manager, para-legal, banker, and in administration.  We have several retired members who also contribute to CP.  In 2010, Citizens Patrol (along with our other volunteers in public safety) donated almost 21,000 hours to the police department and Lynnwood community to help make the city a safer place to live and work.
